I thought I would give everyone a quick update about our Parent Portal, how it can be used, and what is in there that might be of interest for Parents. For example, in this last week I have uploaded the following for parents:
Over the half term, I will be uploading more documents for Years 7-9, including information about 'Preparing for Checkpoint' and also 'Promoting Good English Skills at School'. The portal is a great place for us to share documents, presentations and other files that might be useful for you and your children. Logging in to Parent Portal: https://slims.austinheights.edu.my/ New parents receive a first time username and password that can be changed when you log into the the Parent Portal. Help with Parent Portal: Please contact Mr Fong if you have any problems or if you would like email alerts from the portal, [email protected] As usual, your feedback is very welcome. At the moment I have received a lot of ideas from parents and look forward to implementing some of these during this term.

On Monday morning, we had a special assembly with both the Primary and Secondary school students in attendance. We celebrated the success of the IGCSE students in the summer, and welcomed our new prefects and student council for this academic year.
We are very proud of the achievements of our Year 11 students and this was a wonderful occasion to acknowledge their successes of the summer exams. As you can see, we invited the parents of the families to join in during this event and also showed our appreciation for the support from the Year 11 teachers. The prefects entered together in front of the entire school in an impressive entrance and then took the new oath, showing their commitment to be role models for our school. Our Student council also took an oath, demonstrating their willingness to listen and support all students in our community. This was a great way to start the school week and give fantastic leadership opportunities to our students. We hope this event, inspires others in their academic studies and to get involved in the student council and prefect teams in the future. I was delighted to meet over 100 new families this morning at the 'New Student Orientation Morning'. Moving to an international school can often be a mixed experience with both excitement and anxiety. Here at AHIS, the community is a very warm, positive and inviting group and I have to say that for myself and the new staff it has been an easy transition into this new school. Parents, Staff and Students are all a part of something very special here and it feels like an extremely caring and welcoming environment to come to work and learn in.
I am very grateful to the current parents, staff and students who have built this friendly atmosphere in the school and we can all play our part to help maintain it. The strength of the school is trust and I am excited this new academic year to make sure that we all work together and continue this great approach. "Coming together is a beginning, keeping together is progress, working together is success." Henry Ford. I look forward to meeting more new members of the community in the coming weeks. Together We Excel. |
